Mindfulness and Wellbeing

Mindfulness is a way of calming the mind and restoring peace and balance. It is essential for our everyday happiness and brings us into the present moment, rather then thinking with fear and worry. Mindfulness is slowing ourselves down to appreciate the everyday things and to help us cope with life’s challenges.

To apply mindfulness successfully, we need to pay attention to how we feel. How does our body feel? Are we tired? Are we thinking good thoughts? Are we being kind to ourselves?

Self-care falls very deeply into mindfulness. If we don’t look after ourselves how can we approach each day productively? Mindfulness helps us to aware of our own self-care. It helps us to recognise when we need to take a step back and look at ourselves.

Mindfulness and meditation go hand in hand. Meditation is a powerful tool to help us with calming the mind when stressed. It also helps us to relieve anxiety. The way meditation helps us to do this is by removing the chatter we can all hear in our thoughts and by bringing us into the present moment.

Meditations can be guided ones where you listen to an individual, listening to music or silent. Meditation is also about focusing on our breathing. It is a great way to give us peace and inner joy. Are you being mindful with how you approach everyday tasks? Are we looking after our needs rather then our wants? Mindfulness is always keeping ourselves present so we are more self-aware.
