Combating loneliness

Combating loneliness

Loneliness can affect us in many ways. We can feel isolated, depressed and anxious. Our mind will wander and we can feel sad. We are not always alone though. We have ourselves, we can create connection in other things, not just people.

Loneliness can lead to comfort eating, feeling angry and resentful too. Why wouldn’t you have the friends/partner/family? Here is where we question our worth. What is it that got us to this point of solitude?

Maybe you decided the people in your life were not serving your best interests well. So you moved on. It all happened for a reason- back then you had the self worth to recognise you were worth more and your happiness was more important.

So why now in complete solitude do you feel alone? Maybe its because you expected things to move along quicker with meeting new people, finding new connections and relationships. You know you’re worth it, but you don’t feel worthy because you are alone right now.

Change is always inevitable and having hope will always pull you through. Right now during this global pandemic, huge amounts of people will feel alone. We cant connect like we used to. However there are groups online that you can join (where your interests lie)  for the meantime and when things change, join in person groups.

Whilst in a time of feeling lonely, embrace it. Embrace the solitude. Solitude is where we find answers. It is where we have the opportunity to work on ourselves, reflect on areas we would like to change and evolve. When we are in quiet space, we can find peace and seek the truth within. This brings clarity and can eliminate the inner conflict. If we were never alone, how could we find the answers we seek?

Positive thinking, self-help, working on your self-love and accepting the moment will help you move forwards with gratitude and peace. Meditations, mindfulness and looking within will help you with loneliness. Helping others and practicing kindness also removes sadness that is connected to loneliness.
