Self- love comes in many forms. It is a mixture of loving who you are, physically, mentally and emotionally. It is all about having respect for yourself, loving every part of you and accepting yourself no matter what.

Self-love is appreciating yourself on all levels, having a high regard for your own wellbeing and happiness and seeking the help you need when you need it. Accepting yourself unconditionally including all flaws and knowing you have the power to change if you want to.

It can be so hard in this day and age to love yourself without limitations or putting conditions on it, especially if you have had a hard upbringing.

Here are some helpful ways to achieve it:

  • Stop comparing yourself- you are on your own journey
  • Don’t worry about others opinions- listen to your positive thoughts
  • Take time out daily to focus on doing things you love
  • Allow yourself to make mistakes
  • Be kind to yourself
  • Your value doesn’t lie in how you look or what job you do
  • Let go of toxicity
  • Process your fears- face them
  • Trust yourself more
  • Put yourself first
  • Speak your truth
  • Understand your needs

Loving yourself is experiencing happiness on a whole new level internally. Self-love is linked strongly to self-esteem and how we have learnt things growing up. Be aware of these traits and let go of the ones that don’t serve you well.

Self-love is letting go of how you think things should be and accepting all of you at all times. Focusing on the positives of each day will boost self-confidence and this in turn will boost your self-love.

To get to a good place with self-love, it is important to manage your emotions effectively, letting go and working through the negative ones, understanding your triggers, people or situations that no longer serve you well and putting your needs at the front.

The key to self-love and acceptance is a feeling of confidence, caring for yourself at all times and growing into a version of you that you dreamt of. It is unconditional support, self-care and compassion that you give yourself that results in a healthy lifestyle, great self-esteem, balance and positive wellbeing.
