Breathwork

Breathwork

Breathing is a natural thing to do right? Yes, but we are not taught how breathwork can help us heal, overcome pain, manage our emotions and feel energetically lighter. Practicing different breathing techniques can help us to combat all of these and positively move forwards.

There are many forms of breathwork therapy that involve breathing in a conscious and systematic way. Many people find breathwork promotes deep relaxation or leaves them feeling energized. Overall, it’s thought to bring about improvements in emotional state and to decrease levels of stress in otherwise healthy people. Breathing increases awareness, relaxation, improves focus and helps to change your energy.

There are so many benefits of doing breathing techniques and heres a few to help you:

Box breathing- breathe in for 4, hold for 4, exhale for 4

Alternate nostril breaths- close left nostriland inhale through the right one, then close the right nostril and exhale through this one.

Twice in and out- Breathe in twice through the nose quickly and then breathe out with power in your breath through your mouth twice

Its best to do each practice 3 times each and in the morning and before you go to bed. All of these practices help you and provide the following benefits:

  • Aids positive self-development
  • Proceses emotions and heals emotional pain and trauma
  • Improves personal and professional development
  • Increases confidence and self-image
  • Increases joy and happiness
  • Boosts immunity
  • Reduces stress and anxiety
  • Releases negativity

The more oxygen you take in, the better your body functions. It is safe to do breathwork techniques however it is important to check with a doctor if you have blood pressure issues/heart conditions. Breathwork will help you to feel lighter, more aligned and positive. When mixing breathwork with yoga, it becomes a more powerful practice as it enables you to step into your body more and have a deeper awareness.

Breath is one of the most fundamental functions of your body, and learning to master it can be a powerful thing. Practicing breathwork safely and effectively is a road to learning to manage pain, difficult emotions, and stress more effectively. The mental and physical benefits are compelling, but remember to take it slow and listen to your body
