Mental Health and Wellness Support

Everyone is affected by mental health, at any age. It can be life circumstances, health conditions, a loss, a trauma or event that causes us to spiral into a place of adversity. The question is, how do we heal and recover and allow ourselves to move forwards and let go?

World Mental Health Day (10 Oct) is a day to talk about mental health and show everyone that mental health matters. It’s also a day to let people know that it’s okay to ask for help, no matter what you’re going through.

It is important to make sure you look after yourself and your mind everyday. Here are some ways to do this:

  • Meditation
  • Affirmations
  • Focusing on joy and positivity
  • Doing activities and things you love doing
  • Read a motivating book
  • Listen to an inspiring podcast
  • Have fun
  • Connect with others
  • Move your body
  • Volunteering or helping someone
  • Dancing to feel good
  • Gratitude
  • Putting your needs first
  • Paying attention to things that trigger you
  • Get enough relaxation and rest
  • Breathwork/Grounding

If you embed a positive wellness routine it will hugely help your mental health.

Having myself experienced the journey of mental health 5 years ago struggling with having had anxiety and depression, I can give you the best advice on how to heal:

  • Make time for you everyday
  • Ask yourself why do I feel this way and what could be triggering it
  • Look at your lifestyle- who are you surrounding yourself with and what is causing negativity in your life?
  • Are you looking after your needs?
  • Take time to relax the mind through meditation- the biggest cause of anxiety is an overload of stress
  • Practice EFT (Emotional Freedom Tapping)
  • Don’t forget your inner child needs love and attention- do things you loved doing as a child
  • Know your worth! Do you know how worthy you are of love and support?

Once you heal yourself, anxiety and depression become non-existant. Be brave enough to get the support you need and let go of those who don’t give you that. The one lesson I learnt was to love myself and only surround myself with those that did too. My whole reality changed once I started to speak up for myself, love myself and know my worth.

My mental health had been affected by lifestyle choices, not healing and not loving myself. When you decide you want to change and eliminate negativity your world will change but it all starts from within.
