06 Jan Finding Your True Self
Finding your true self- what does this even mean?
It is about knowing all that you are- what makes you feel good, what makes you get triggered and why. Knowing yourself will help you overcome any obtacles and positively get you through growth and healing. You true self is the version of you that you are at your best when you feel relaxed, calm and at peace.
It is about knowing your character, emotions and what gives you inspiration and flow. Finding yourself is important because it is the key to living an authentic and fruitful life. When you truly know yourself, you can make decisions that align with your values, passions, and purpose. It’s about understanding who you truly are, embracing your unique story, and living authentically.
We were molded as children by our parents, teachers, religions, peers, and society to “fit in.” As a result, we developed beliefs, thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that keep us acting in the ways we were taught to act—not in the ways that make us feel like our authentic selves.
Here are some ways to do this:
Live authentically– Do what you feel is right for you each day. Listen to your intuition. Embracing your strengths, accepting your weaknesses and showing up as your genuine self.
Noticing problematic thought patterns– Take a moment to identify five problematic thought patterns that frequently recur in your life. Explore how these patterns translate into beliefs and behaviors.
Replace Old Patterns– Once you’ve identified your problematic thought patterns, it’s time to replace them with new, empowering ones. Think about what new behaviors or thoughts can replace the old ones. This step requires conscious effort and practice. By consistently implementing these new thoughts and behaviors, you’ll start to see a shift in your life. Also explore family belief systems- Think back to episodes in your childhood, episodes that led you to stop being your authentic self and instead adopt some other way of existing in this world.
Building Self- Confidence– When you know who you are, you develop a strong sense of self. You become more self-assured in your abilities, decisions, and choices. This confidence radiates in your interactions with others and empowers you to take risks, pursue your dreams and desires and overcome challenges.
Make aligned choices– Knowing yourself helps you make choices that align with your values and aspirations. You become more aware of what truly matters to you and can make decisions that support your personal growth and well-being. This leads to a greater sense of fulfillment and satisfaction in life.
Face your fears– Humans tend to be most comfortable with what is familiar. The unfamiliar is often challenging, at least at first. Examining your inner core beliefs can be like exploring a foreign landscape you are unfamiliar with.
Finding yourself is an ongoing process. Embrace change and growth as you navigate through life. Be open to new experiences, challenge yourself, and step out of your comfort zone. Remember, it’s in the moments of not knowing and feeling lost that our true potential emerges. See who mirrors you as this highlights your unconscious mind to you and will help you heal.
